The Lynx swam in the Hendrix Fall Invitational this past weekend competing against nine other teams including Centenary College of Louisiana, UALR, Hendrix College, Colorado College, University of Texas-Permian Basin, McMurry University, Sewanee, Austin College, and Henderson State University.
On Friday, the women's team opened the meet with an outstanding performance in the 400 medley relay composed of Griffin, Hartman, Emery, and Green, breaking the school record in a time of 4:11.50. In the women's 1000 free, Jackie Ward, Kim Green, and Lynn Swiger all had great swims and achieved top ten finishes. For the men, Drew Wagstaff had a great race placing fourth in the 1000 yard free with a time of 10:25.22. Freshman Hannah Emery set a new school record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:15.88, and senior Sallye Hartman won the 200 breastroke finishing in a time of 2:31.42. The women's team ended up third out of 9 teams and first among Division III teams competing on Friday. Although a few swimmers were missing from the men's lineup, they still managed to turn out strong swims and competitive spirits.
Saturday was a relay meet which gave the swimmers a chance to have fun and gain experience swimming a two-day meet. The women's 200 breastroke relay finished second overall and their 300 butterfly relay finished third. This meet was a great marker for the swimmers and gave insight to their progress so far this season. The Lynx are looking forward to their next meet on November 15th at Sewanee.
